The route for a drought-proofing gravitational channel from Northern Australia to Victoria continues from St George in Queensland, past Moree in New South Wales before looping back around Bourke and heading down the Darling River Valley into the established irrigation areas in the vicinity of Griffith and Deniliquin.
Stage 1 is in magenta, and stage 2 in blue. A short northerly section in blue connects additional water sources from the Herbert and Tully Rivers in order to supply the additional irrigation water needed for stage 2.
The route is shown on a relief map, and the elevation at points along the route is noted on the map, showing the overall downhill run. However, the gradient becomes quite low in NSW, possibly requiring a lost cost means of speeding the water along the channel.
