Spatial coverage for UAH is also a factor.

In an earlier thread I figured .03-.04 increase for satellite, but didn't specify which product, however do use UAH for estimating. I suspect something is awry with RSS this month, or UAH is picking up the SSW from January at the North Pole.

Over on CA, Anthony reports that Dr. Spencer states that UAH is now using Aqua data.

The issue is said to be diurnal differences. February had large diurnal differences which, the old sensor does not pick up as well.

When I saw this earlier onI thought for sure I had this one wrong.

They are saying a rise from 0.30 to 0.36.

I do wonder why the difference as they are using the same same sensor data.

David, Unless I'm misreading the RSS table linked to your post, the global temperature anomaly declined from 0.322C in January to 0.230C (not 0.280C) in February. Am I looking at the right series?

davids: Thanks Ian.
